Preparing for an In-Office Surgical Procedure
BEFORE YOUR VISIT:
- Do not eat, drink or smoke anything after midnight the night before your appointment- This includes all foods, all beverages, water, gum, candy and ice. Eating or drinking anything will make giving you anesthesia unsafe.
- Remove all facial piercings and jewelry that you normally wear and leave these items at home.
- Children and guests are not allowed in our office and waiting areas.
- You will be in the office about 3-5 hours on the day of your appointment, depending on any medical preparation needed before your procedure and recovery time after.
- You cannot drive to this appointment. It is unsafe and illegal to drive after having anesthesia. You can have a trusted person drop you off and return to pick you up or you can take a cab/ride share home on your own.
- If you have a payment due, it can be made with cash, credit card, or money order. You can use more than one payment method if needed. If you are paying with a credit card, the card and the card holder (with a picture ID) must be present in the office.
- If you develop a cough or any cold or flu symptoms before your visit please call us at 312-707-8988.
Preparing for a Medication Abortion Pill
BEFORE YOUR VISIT:
- You can eat and drink normally.
- Children and guests are not allowed in our office and waiting areas.
- You will be in the office about 1-2 hours on the day of your appointment.
- You may drive to this appointment, have a trusted person drop you off and return to pick you up or you can take a cab/ride share home on your own.
- If you have a payment due, it can be made with cash, credit card, or money order. You can use more than one payment method if needed. If you are paying with a credit card, the card and the card holder (with a picture ID) must be present in the office.
- If you develop a cough or any cold or flu symptoms before your visit please call us at 312-707-8988.
Preparing for the First Day of a 2-3 Day Procedure
BEFORE YOUR VISIT:
- You can eat and drink normally on the first day of your 2-3 day procedure.
- Children and guests are not allowed in our office and waiting areas.
- You will be in the office about 2 hours on the day of your appointment.
- If you live more than 1 hour away from our office, be prepared to stay in a local hotel or with family or friends who live less than an hour from our office. Help is available if you need a hotel and cannot afford one.
- You may drive to this appointment, have a trusted person drop you off and return to pick you up or you can take a cab/ride share home on your own.
- If you have a payment due, it can be made with cash, credit card, or money order. You can use more than one payment method if needed. If you are paying with a credit card, the card and the card holder (with a picture ID) must be present in the office.

BEFORE YOUR VISIT:
- Children and guests are not allowed in our office and waiting areas.
- You will be in the office less than an hour usually, depending on the level of care needed.
- If you have a payment due, it can be made with cash, credit card, or money order. You can use more than one payment method if needed. If you are paying with a credit card, the card and the card holder (with a picture ID) must be present in the office.
- If you develop a cough or any cold or flu symptoms before your visit please call us at 312-707-8988.
Unless a medical staff member has given you other instructions:
- You may drive to this appointment, have a trusted person drop you off and return to pick you up or you can take a cab/ride share home on your own.

The entrance for our main clinic is located at 659 West Washington Blvd, Chicago, IL 60661. We often have clinic escorts who wear bright pink vests. They can help you enter the office if protesters are present on the day of your appointment.
The entrance to our Deplaines office is at the corner of Warren and Desplaines. If you are at 659 West Washington Blvd, walk east to the corner of Washington and Desplaines and turn right. Walk south on Desplaines, past the restaurant and gold doors, to the next corner. Look for an FPA sign on the sidewalk. The entrance is on the right.
