The Abortion Procedure

All doctors at Family Planning Associates Medical Group are Board Certified in OB/GYN. There is a highly skilled staff of nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to give you the highest quality of care.
- Prior to surgery a nurse will review your medical history and perform a physical examination.
- We offer local anesthesia and sedation if you do not want to feel any pain or discomfort during the surgery.
- With local Anesthesia a cervical block (numbing medication injected into the cervix) is administered and you are awake during the procedure.
Sedation – medication(s) are administered through an IV placed in your arm. With sedation, you are asleep for surgery and will not remember the surgery. You will be asleep 5-15 minutes depending on the procedure.
- Recovery time is approximately one hour. The medical staff will review the dos and don’ts after surgery and provide medications to take home.
- Affordable Fees and Financial Assistance
- Cash, credit cards, money orders, cashier’s checks, and traveler’s checks are accepted for payment. We cannot accept personal checks.
- Many insurance and HMO plans cover abortion services.
- Funding assistance is available if you cannot afford the full fee.
